Christopher M. Garrett joined the Office of General Counsel in November 2013. Prior to joining the Office of General Counsel, Mr. Garrett worked at Akerman Senterfitt in the Consumer Finance Litigation & Compliance Practice Group. Mr. Garrett previously worked at Rogers Towers, PA in the Business Litigation Practice Group.
Mr. Garrett received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with honors, from the University of Florida in 2001. He then graduated cum laude from the University of Florida, Levin College of Law, with a Juris Doctor degree. While in law school, Mr. Garrett served as the Articles Editor for the Journal of Law and Public Policy and as a Legal Research & Writing and Appellate Advocacy Teaching Assistant.
Mr. Garrett is currently a part of the General Litigation Department of the Office of General Counsel, handling prosecution and defense of complex commercial litigation, real estate litigation, construction litigation, eminent domain, and constitutional claims in state and federal courts. He is also a member of the Florida Bar, Jacksonville Bar Association and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida.
Mr. Garrett has received an AV Preeminent Peer Review RatingTM by Martindale Hubbell. He was also recognized in Florida Super Lawyers as a "Rising Star" (Business Litigation Category) in 2010 and 2011. He is a volunteer at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida -- Camp Healing Powers and was previously a Board Member for the Red Shoe Crew at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Jacksonville.
